“To write something, you have to risk making a fool of yourself.”
Anne Rice, author of fantasy and horror stories.
It’s all pretty basic really. WordPress, Blogspot and Tumblr are the top sites. They lay out a pretty straight forward procedure of how to create your own blog. Anyone can do it (i.e choose a unique URL and publish their first post). The challenge comes when you have to work on your layout and content.
I didn’t ‘go live’ immediately after creating this blog though. It took me about a week to settle on my theme and posts. In the time that I have been at it, I have learnt 3 important things:
- K.I.S.S! A majority of us busy folk prefer quick reads. Making an entry that is at most 250 – 300 words and containing spaced paragraphs is the best way to go.
- Love-at-first-theme. Be careful and choose themes that portray your personality. As a reader, I like to get the impression that although the layout looks effortless, you took time and really thought about it.
- Pictures Please! Use of google images is illegal! So when you upload your own or those you have bought, remember to make a creative selection of picture.
Linguistic intelligence, as explained in the book How To Be A Genius written by John Woodward, involves a sensitivity to written and spoken language. It may enable people to easily learn languages, but it also includes the ability to use language to express yourself and communicate complex information. I think this is a tad exaggerated but even so, if you feel passionate about your words, do share them
